For the last nine months, Katie Holmes has made us queasy as she's shoved her love life down our throats, clinging like a baby possum to the back of Tom Cruise. But it turns out there are still some people who want to see her acting amorous -- albeit with someone other than her photo-op-loving future baby daddy.

The Sundance Film Festival is abuzz over the mysterious disappearance of 12 seconds of hanky-panky between Holmes and Aaron Eckhart in the black comedy "Thank You for Smoking." It seems the somewhat risqué love scene was featured in the film when it debuted at the Toronto Film Festival last fall but was gone when it screened over the weekend in Park City, Utah.

"We were sitting there in shock," director Jason Reitman tells the Los Angeles Times. "And I turned to other people who had worked on the film, and we were completely confused. But the audience didn't seem to notice or care."

But when the filmmaker informed the sold-out crowd of the missing monkey business, he was met with "loud moans," says the paper. It remains unclear whether the audience was just really disappointed or if they were simply trying to recreate the absent liaison.

Suspicion over the deleted dalliance quickly fell on the couch-abusing, control-craving Cruise, with some insiders speculating that he was so uncomfortable with his "amazing" and "extraordinary" fiancée's revealing on-screen frolicking that he demanded some snipping.

But it doesn't appear that Tom donned his "Mission: Impossible" gear and lowered himself into the editing room, scissors in hand. Reitman blames the excised close encounter on technical difficulties, explaining to the Times that the scene was inadvertently lopped off when the reels were assembled.

Neither Katie nor Tom made it to Sundance to support "Smoking," which is the only project the once-busy actress has in the pipeline. The flick, with skin-filled sex scene intact, hits screens on March 17, right around the time the TomKitten is due to make its sure-to-be well-publicized arrival.
