Nicole Richie is pregnant with her first child, according to reports in the U.S.
Prompted by pictures of the skinny star with a bloated belly, a number of magazines are claiming medical tests have proved The Simple Life star is expecting a baby with her rocker boyfriend Joel Madden.
Late last month she was photographed at a reproductive clinic and a report in Life and Style magazine claims blood and urine tests "confirmed she is pregnant".
An "insider" tells the magazine, "Nicole's determined to get healthy for her own sake and the baby's."

Just two days after parting ways with her manager, Kelly Clarkson has canceled her upcoming summer tour over disappointing ticket sales, yet another sign of turmoil as she prepares to release her third album, "My December."
In a statement on her Web site, Clarkson said:
"I can't tell you how much I've been looking forward to getting out there to perform for y'all. In the craziness of the music business, performing is what I look forward to doing the most, so it really is disappointing for me to have to tell you that I won't be coming out to tour this summer. The fact is that touring is just too much too soon.
But I promise you that we're going to get back out there as soon as is humanly possible to give you a show that will be even better.

The Sexy Back artist has been forced to send the Seventh Heaven beauty back to the US to avoid further distraction, World Entertainment News has reported.
“She truly insisted that she came with me on tour. I don't know how to say no to a pretty face. But it wasn't really a good idea” said Timberlake.
“Jessica met up with me in Manchester, England, but for Paris I told her categorically no. This tour is very important to me. I'm doing it really seriously so there's no question of playing sweethearts".
Whilst Timberlake has denied he is in love with Biel, he was questioned on who the love of his life is, “I haven’t met her yet”.

Victoria Beckham boosted her U.S. profile by unveiling her dVb collection of denim pants, skirts and shorts at Saks department store on Fifth Avenue.
Wearing white jeans, silver high heels, and a sparkly, silver singlet top, Beckham posed for photographers -- who, a security guard said, outnumbered fans -- before heading upstairs to sign autographs for about 70 fans waiting in line.
