She may be playing a villain in two summer movies, but Michelle Pfeiffer was all smiles and grace when she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Monday.
The Academy Award nominated star of “The Fabulous Baker Boys” and “Dangerous Liaisons” thanked her mother and father for supporting her decision to become an actress.
“She taught me that I could do anything and that I should have a career before I get married,” she said. Her father, she said, “taught me that you can make something of yourself if you work hard.”
Pfeiffer is currently on the screen playing the nasty Velma Von Tussle in “Hairspray” and will soon be seen as the evil witch Laima in the fairy tale “Stardust,” set for release Aug. 10.
Actors Paul Rudd, her co-star in the upcoming romantic comedy “I Could Never Be Your Woman” and Baker Boy Jeff Bridges both attended Monday’s ceremony.

The Firm boss Jeff Kwatinetz has taken charge of the troubled pop star's career after pop rival Kelly Clarkson dumped the industry bigwig in June.
Clarkson axed Kwatinetz after her falling out with music mogul Clive Davis went public. The "Breakaway" singer is now represented by pal Reba McEntire's manager/husband Narvel Blackstock.
Meanwhile, Spears rehired cousin Alli Sims as her assistant last week. Sims quit to concentrate on a solo pop career and insiders claim she's helping her relative out until she finds a full-time replacement for sacked sidekick Shannon Funk.

The uber couple, along with baby Shiloh, is about to be immortalized on an Australian postage stamp, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
The family photo will be repurposed from the cover of New Idea magazine and slapped onto a .50 cent stamp.
The stamp was announced at Australia's 10th Annual Magazine of the Year Awards, and is reportedly being produced by the Australia Post, a major sponsor of the awards.
"I don't know of any other country in the world that has ever had Brad and Angelina on a stamp," a New Idea spokesman said. "Whatever the case, these stamps are sure to become instantly collectable and be sought after by philatelists around the country."
And hey, you know you've officially made it in Hollywood when you find yourself the object of a philatelist's affection.

Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro has claimed that the media's reaction to the recent behaviour of Lindsey Lohan has been over-the-top.
"When I was 20 years old, the s**t you would have on me would have been mind-blowing," Navarro told us at the recent Subaru and Maxim magazine ICU party at Area in West Hollywood to kick off the X Games.
He added: "I just see girls growing up in Hollywood and I don't mean to diminish it but the reality is that billions of kids go through the same stuff all over the country.
"But just because she happened to have a big movie or two, we're blowing it up as this big shocker - but it's not. It's adolescence!"
Lohan was arrested for driving under the influence on July 24 and was checked into a rehab centre in Utah earlier this week.

Rhymes' attorney, Scott Leemon, said he hadn't seen the lawsuit.
"Nothing has been proven yet," Leemon said.
The 35-year-old rapper, whose real name is Trevor Smith, faces trial for allegedly assaulting a fan after an Aug. 12, 2006,
performance at a music festival on Randalls Island.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the lawsuit was connected to that incident.
Rhymes also faces separate trials on charges that he drove drunk, drove with a suspended license, and beat and kicked a former employee.
