Britney Spears almost lost her video shoot to newcomer Samantha Jade after failing to show up on time last week.
The Toxic singer was booked to shoot the video for new single Piece of Me at Los Angeles' Social club last Tuesday (27Nov07) at 8am - but chose to stay at home with her young sons instead.
Dancers and director Wayne Isham waited patiently without knowing where the star was, and Spears' bosses at Jive Records decided to teach the singer a lesson by giving her video shoot to her little-known labelmate.
U.S. news show Extra reports Britney only showed up to shoot - 12 hours late - after hearing of the plans to let Jade shoot her video for break-out single Eyes On Me on Spears' unused set.
A source says, "Jive was really upset. They were already paying everyone overtime, and finally Britney showed up 12 hours late but only after they told her they were going to give the video shoot to another Jive artist, Samantha Jade.
"They were going to recalibrate it (shoot) for Samantha, because it was too expensive to just scrap.
"Britney finally showed up when she realised a new, younger, hotter girl would take her slot."

Their work in films and for charities takes them all over the world so it is difficult to associate Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt with one place.
During the year the family camped for protracted periods in New Orleans, Prague, New York and California. Their school going children - Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, and Zahara, nearly three, have attended schools in Prague, New York and California.
Jolie, 32, announced the family's intent to spend Christmas in New York while speaking to Us magazine Monday, December 3, at a press conference addressed by Brad Pitt.
"I'm working on a film, but we'll be back for Christmas time," she said. "We'll be here through Christmas."
Jolie is currently working on The Changeling, directed by Clint Eastwood in Los Angeles. She headlines a cast that also includes John Malkovich.
Interestingly, the couple had spent last Christmas with Colombian refugees in Costa Rica.
New Orleans is special for the couple because Pitt has donated $5 million to the "Make it Right" project which will build 150 affordable and environmentally friendly homes for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Though her hookup makes her the envy of teenage girls, Vanessa Hudgens isn’t thrilled with boyfriend Zac Efron. According to a report in Star Magazine, the “High School Musical” actress wants a little less metro in her male.
“She wants to date a man, not a little girl,” an insider revealed to Star. “Vanessa told (Zac) to stop being such a sissy and freaking out when he gets blemishes.”
The source went on to claim Zac nearly bailed on a birthday bash for Vanessa’s little sis, Stella, last month after spying an enormous zit on his cheek. “He just flipped out. He knew there were a bunch of girls at the party who worship him — and he didn’t want them all staring at his pimple.”
Once the teen queen offered up her tube of concealer, all was well — for Zac. “Vanessa doesn’t want to share makeup with her boyfriend,” the source said. “It makes her feel weird.”
It’s not just the pimples that threaten to burst Nessa’s bubble. “Zac can be incredibly vain, obsessing about his weight.” Turns out, she’d rather wear the skinny jeans in the relationship.
“Vanessa wants Zac to realize that it’s OK if he doesn’t always look perfect. She would love him even if he didn’t look like a Teen Beat cover boy. In fact, she would probably love him more if he relaxed about his looks and got a little scuffed up once in a while.

Porn star Mary Carey, who shot to fame by running for California governor against Arnold Schwarzenegger, unveiled plans on Tuesday to auction off her autographed, recently removed breast implants for charity.
Carey said the size 36-D implants were taken out two weeks ago and replaced with larger 36-DDDs and while under anesthesia she realized they could be used to raise money for breast cancer research.
"The doctors asked me what I wanted to do with them and I said, 'You know what, I'm going to keep them and try to sell them. Because my grandmother had breast cancer," Carey told Reuters in an interview.
The autographed implants have been placed on eBay and Carey, whose real name is Mary Cook, said she planned to donate some 90 percent of the proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
She intends to use the rest of the money on medical bills for her mother, who suffered major injuries after jumping off a four-story building in 2006.
"I'm actually overall very anti-plastic surgery," Carey said. "I watched my mom go through 11 surgeries (for her injuries) and it's like, for me to voluntarily put myself through that, the only right thing to do is make money and donate it to charity."

Surrounded by lace slips and garter belts, the actress said her newly single status doesn't lessen her love of lingerie. "I have a lot of it, but mostly for myself," she said. "It just makes you feel beautiful."
And that, incidentally, is also what she's looking for in a man. "I want someone who makes me feel good," she said, adding with a sly smile, "if you know what I mean."

Despite being the guest of honor at the Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Power 100 breakfast Tuesday, Jodie Foster said, "I don't feel very powerful."
"I feel fragile ... unsure, struggling to figure it all out," the 45-year-old actress-director-producer said as she accepted the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the event, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Foster characterized herself as a "professional" and a "gentleman." But she also said that after working in entertainment for 42 years, "there's no way you can do that and not be as nutty as a fruitcake."
"I always feel like something of an impostor. I don't know what I'm doing," she said. "I suppose that's my one little secret, the secret of my success."
Lansing, former chief of Paramount Pictures, said she was overwhelmed when the Hollywood Reporter decided to name its award for female leadership in entertainment after her.
"I'm equally if not more overwhelmed to be presenting it to Jodie," said Lansing.

The 2 Fast 2 Furious star, who regularly features in the top 10 of lists of the world's most beautiful women, admits she has her insecurities, but would rather be imperfect than flawless.
She says, "If I was striving for perfection, I would have fixed my teeth and my big nose. But perfection is boring.
"I think the greatest beauties in the world were imperfect. Audrey Hepburn was a beautiful woman but she did a movie called Funny Face for a reason.
"I work out but I don't allow the body image stuff to get to me. There's so much else in life to worry about. Why add to that? It certainly wasn't an issue during my upbringing. My mum is a very voluptuous woman."
