...the Grammy nominations announced thursday
The 50th Annual Grammy Awards nominations will be announced Thursday. The Grammys, which will be called the "Golden Anniversary" this year due to its 50th year, will be held on February 10 in Los Angeles.
Artists scheduled to announce the nods include 18-time Grammy winner Vince Gill, three-time Grammy winner Fergie, two-time Grammy-winning rockers Linkin Park, R&B singer-songwriter Akon, teen country sensation Taylor Swift and comedian George Lopez.
Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, Beyonce', and Akon are amongst the favorite for nominations. West's 'Graduation' album sold over one million copies in its first week, making it the year's biggest US debut.
Veterans Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney are also expected to be nominated.

On the broadcast, Flick also aired two songs from the album, "Candy Shop" and "The Beat Goes On" featuring Pharrell. Both cuts leaked online earlier this year.
Unconfirmed reports say Madonna previewed the album in recent days for Warner Bros. staff members in New York. Kanye West is said to guest on "The Beat Goes On," while an older unreleased tune, "The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You," appears in a new version.
As previously reported, following "Licorice" and a greatest hits collection, Madonna will record for Artist Nation, a new initiative launched by concert promoter Live Nation.
The 10-year deal encompasses all of Madonna's future music and music-related businesses, including the exploitation of the Madonna brand, new studio albums, touring, merchandising, fan clubs/Web sites, DVDs, music-related television and film projects and associated sponsorship agreements.

The Scottish actor - who plays Keira's love interest Robbie in the Oscar-tipped movie - says the highlight of filming the romantic epic was hearing his co-star being instructed in the art of manual stimulation.
James told the New York Daily News newspaper: "Being there while Keira Knightley was being told to w*** me off was a high point."
Director Joe Wright added: "Absolutely no comment. I can't believe he told you that!"
The 22-year-old actress admitted that while she enjoyed shooting the raunchy romp in the library scene, she did need some guidance on what to do.
Keira said: "It was the sex scene, which I have to say I think is a really good sex scene. But it was such a specific thing, and it had to be so erotic, that we did just say to Joe, 'Come on, talk us through it.'"

Paris Hilton's parents allegedly once snorted cocaine off a floor with The Village People's cowboy Randy Jones.
The 'Y.M.C.A.' singer claims he shared a table with hotel moguls Rick and Kathy Hilton at New York's famous Studio 54 club in 1977, where they indulged in some recreational drug taking.
Jones told the New York Daily News newspaper: "There was one rock of cocaine left, and it rolled off the table. They just didn't even bother bringing it back up to a hard surface - they just crushed it into the carpet and snorted it off that.
"Whatever Paris Hilton is, she came by it honestly."
Paris' parents vehemently deny the incident ever took place.
Rick said: "Never happened. We didn't move to the city until 1979."

Kiefer Sutherland’s Mug Shot
Kiefer Sutherland has begun his prison sentence for a drunk-driving conviction after surrendering to Los Angeles police on Wednesday.
The actor was scheduled to turn himself in on December 21 when his hit show "24" was on a scheduled hiatus, but as the current writers' strike in Hollywood had stalled filming on the series, he made the decision to check in earlier.
The star will serve 48 days at the private Glendale City Jail, spending Christmas, New Year and his birthday on December 21 inside. Sutherland was handed the sentence after he was caught driving under the influence in September.
He will wear a standard-issue orange jumpsuit for the duration of his stay in the 48-cell facility, and came equipped with reading material and underwear when he booked into the prison, reports TMZ.com.
Randy Adams, Glendale Police Chief, insists Sutherland will not be subject to special treatment during his stay, and will be expected to perform laundry and kitchen duties like the other inmates.
He says, "The fact that he's a celebrity -- he checked that at the door when he checked in." Adams adds Sutherland was "co-operative" during the booking.
Sutherland will not share a cell at the facility, as it is standard procedure for "long term" inmates to have their own accommodation, and the actor will serve the 48 days of his sentence consecutively.
Earlier in the day, Judge Stuart M. Rice also sentenced Sutherland to five years probation, and insisted the star must complete an 18-month alcohol education program and attend weekly therapy sessions for six months.
