Jamie Lynn Spears, the 16-year-old "Zoey 101" star and sister of Britney, told OK! magazine that she's pregnant and that the father is her boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.
"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," she said. "I was in complete and total shock and so was he."
Spears is 12 weeks along and initially kept the news to herself when she learned of the pregnancy from an at-home test and subsequent doctor visit, she told the celebrity magazine, which hits stands in New York on Wednesday and the rest of the country by Friday.
What message does she want to send to other teens about premarital sex? "I definitely don't think it's something you should do; it's better to wait," she told the magazine. "But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in."
After she found out from a doctor that she was pregnant, she said, "I took two weeks to myself where I didn't tell anybody."
"Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone's opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me," she said.
Spears broke the news to her mother, Lynne, just before Thanksgiving, the magazine reported.
"She was very upset because it wasn't what she expected at all," Spears said. "A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive."
Lynne Spears, already grandmother to Britney's young sons, told the magazine: "I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious. She's never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby."
She said her actress daughter, the telegenic heroine of her popular Nickelodeon series, has known Aldridge for years and began dating him in high school.
But in a recent interview with The Associated Press, Spears said she had no steady boyfriend. "I kind of just keep my options open," she said. "I have a bunch of friends that I always hang out with, a bunch of guy friends." She declined to talk about her older sister.
Spears spoke to the AP shortly before Thanksgiving, the day she told OK! she informed her mother about the pregnancy.
Jamie Lynn plans to raise the baby in her home state of Louisiana — "so it can have a normal family life."

Amy Winehouse has been arrested as part of an investigation into perverting the course of justice.
Police confirmed that the 24-year-old singer was arrested yesterday when she went to a London police station by appointment. She was later released on bail.
A representative for Winehouse's publicity agency said: "It was voluntary and pre-arranged."
The singer is due return to a London police station in March pending further inquiries.
Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil is currently being held on remand accused of grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
The singer recently cancelled all her remaining concert dates for this year, claiming that she cannot perform while her husband is in jail.

Christina Ricci's teenage battle with anorexia stopped her enjoying her fame.
The 'Black Snake Moan' star felt pressured to conform to the Hollywood ideal of perfection and admits the struggle made her unhappy.
Christina, 27, said: "I was a teenager going through adolescence and at one point I had a little anorexia phase and then I kind of ballooned. I feel my body now is the adult Christina and it's what I should have come to a long time ago if I hadn't been screwing around with my body so much.
"I was too busy thinking about my skin or my weight or the clothes I was wearing instead of just enjoying it and saying, 'I can't believe I get to be here. This is awesome and I'm going to experience it.' "
Christina admits she is vain, but she has learned not to obsess about her looks.
She added to US TV show 'Entertainment Tonight': "The more weight you give your criticisms, the more it's going to affect you.
"Vanity is unnecessary. I'm the vainest person around but I have found a way to let that go so I can just have fun. You really have to make a decision in life that you're not going to be crippled by your insecurities."

Nelly Furtado has sparked rumors she has secretly married.
The singer - whose engagement to Cuban sound engineer Demacio "Demo" Castellon was revealed in July - was seen wearing a gold wedding band on her ring finger, below her diamond engagement ring at Miami's Y100 Jingle Ball on Saturday (15.12.07).
A source is quoted as saying: "Nelly was partying backstage with Natasha Bedingfield and Timbaland. She was so happy and there was no missing the gold band on her finger.
"Natasha took her hand and looked at it and then hugged her and whispered something in her ear. It looked like she was congratulating her."

Christina has a full house with her visiting family, and her home is not even completely finished. Christina and hubby Jordan Bratman are sparing no expense when it comes to decorating, and the pregnant singer was spotted shopping for home furnishings earlier this month.
Although Christina has already had one baby shower at her Beverly Hills home, where she received blue-themed gifts, a family insider tells PageSix.com, “Christina will be having a second baby shower at the Hotel Bel-Air with just her friends.” The source also confirmed to PageSix.com that, “Christina has a C-section scheduled for January 10 but she might need to push the date of the delivery up.”
As PageSix.com first reported, Xtina likes the name Jackson Jake, but she and Jordan are also thinking about Max as a name for the baby.

Rap star Eminem lied to his fans about life growing up on a trailer park, according to his mother.
The Without Me hitmaker shot to fame singing about his childhood in a poor area of Detroit, Michigan.
But the star's mother Debbie Nelson refutes the claims in her tell-all book My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem.
She says, "After his first album, Infinite, flopped, he reinvented himself as white trailer trash with a crazy welfare mom.
"I was shocked when I first heard the lyrics... but he constantly reassured me it was all a big joke... I went along with it for Marshall's sake."

Based on the Jodi Picoult novel, Baldwin will play an attorney who represents a child (Elle Fanning) after she sues her parents for emancipation on the grounds they bred her to be a genetic match who could prolong the life of her cancer-ridden sister (Dakota Fanning). The girl's mother (Diaz) is a former trial lawyer and represents herself in court.
Nick Cassavetes will direct for New Line. Jeremy Leven wrote the script. Production begins in February.

Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams have been inspired to reunite by the Spice Girls recent comeback, and are planning to discuss working together again over the Christmas period.
Kelly said: "This current spate of reunions has given us ideas. Despite what people say we are all still really close.
"A couple of weeks ago Beyoncé did a show in Los Angeles and asked me and Michelle to join her on stage to sing 'Survivor'. The emotion was incredible and it felt so good to be back up there with the girls again.
"It was a real tear-jerker. The fans were crying and going nuts. It was magical. I'd definitely like us to do more stuff like that."
Kelly - who enjoyed a successful solo career after the band split in June 2005 - will be joining Beyoncé and the entire Knowles family for Christmas dinner.

The former “Baywatch” lifeguard and the one-time soap star agreed to share custody of their two teenage daughters, Taylor, 17 and Hayley, 14. They’ve also decided on spousal and child support and will put their Encino, Calif., home on the market.
