A housekeeper called police around noon Wednesday after she saw a car blocking the actor's driveway, Officer Karen Smith said.
The man got out of the car and asked which house belonged to Pitt, the housekeeper told officers.
The 25-year-old reporter was arrested for investigation of trespassing and taken into custody on a "private person's arrest," Smith said. It will be up to the housekeeper to decide whether to press charges.
Neither Pitt nor Angelina Jolie, were home at the time.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have reportedly already picked out names for their soon-to-arrive babies.
The couple are said to be expecting twins, a boy and a girl, next month and according to Star magazine, have picked out the names Max and Emme respectively.
The names were revealed when Jennifer’s mum Guadalupe was spotted picking out two gold-rope ID bracelets at a jewellery store in New York and overheard asking for the names to be engraved on the pieces ahead of Jennifer’s baby shower earlier in the month.

Dressed from head to toe in black, and wearing her trademark black leather gloves, like David the day before, Posh revealed a new addition to her growing cluster of tattoos, a new script inked underneath her Roman numeral tattoo.

Contrary to published reports, Paris Hilton and Elisha Cuthbert did not lock lips at a club on Tuesday night, Paris’ rep tells OK!.
“It’s false,” a rep for the Simple Life star tells OK!. “Elisha and Paris are good friends and Elisha has a boyfriend. Paris doesn’t kiss girls.”
The socialite reportedly engaged in a lengthy makeout session with Elisha, at New York City's Tenjune and were "all over each other." But they were actually in close proximity for another reason.
"They were talking close due to a loud restaurant," the rep says.

Former ER nurse Julianna Margulies has given birth to a boy named Kieran Lindsay.
Kieran is the first child for Julianna and her husband, lawyer Keith Lieberthal. The couple quietly tied the knot in Massachusetts on Nov. 10.

Rihanna, the pop sensation, has just appeared in a new video on an adult website.
The 19-year-old singer from Barbados posted a video of herself with actor Josh Hartnett from a tryst the two had back in October of 2007.
Rihanna was concerned about a surge in internet popularity for German singer Andrea Berg, and felt that a burst of publicity from the video might keep her career from going downhill.
Despite Rihanna's fame, the video has not drawn that many views. Some in the porn industry suggest that the video lacks certain details that attract an audience.
"She doesn't all the things boys like," noted Jenna Jameson, "and that's a big draw nowadays."
Heather Brooke also commented that the failure to employ her key technique may also hurt the video in its strive to reach viewers. Others blamed the poor video quality.
