Nicole Richie, who gave birth to daughter Harlow in January, told WWD that her maternity line would make women "look and feel good at a really emotional time".
Nicole added: "It's about showing your best self, not your tired, worn-down self. Guys don't go through that, they just don't understand."
Her line will take influence from Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere.
"I wore so much Balenciaga during my pregnancy that he was one of my main inspirations," Richie said.
The socialite will also launch her own jewellery range in the autumn, with the clothing line following later in the year.

In a new interview with Extra, Rudolph reveals he hadn't seen Britney in more than a year--until this past week. Larry paid a visit to his former client, who he says appears happier than ever.
"After spending a few days with her this past week, we didn't talk about anything professional. I just sat and talked with her. I think she's doing great. Her father is doing a great job with her and she's in a great place right now."
As for a Britney comeback, Rudolph says, "People love her. They really love her. People understand what she's been through at this point. People want to see her come back. I think she'll get it together. And I think she'll have a huge career again. I think she's going to make the biggest comeback in history."

Actress Eva Mendes has blamed her hectic work schedule for her recent stint in rehab, insisting she is now taking time off to "take care of herself."
The star entered the Cirque Lodge clinic in Utah in February to seek "outside professional support" for "some personal issues."
The 34-year-old is convinced her decision to work on a string of high-profile movies without taking time out in between each film was the reason behind her health problems.
She tells People.com, "(I'm) taking a break and having a good time. I'm actually taking advantage of my time off.
"You know, I had a film that was pushed, so I'm home spending time with my family, going to the gym and actually enjoying taking care of myself...
"This year has been great for me because I've learned how to relax. The last three years have been amazing but kind of crazy. So I don't know, I feel grounded. I feel really good."
