Madonna thrilled fans in London on Saturday night by performing a medley of Michael Jackson's hits at the O2 Arena, just a week before the late legend was due to grace the same stage.
The pop superstar restarted her Sticky and Sweet world tour in the British capital but stopped the show to give her own personal tribute to Jackson, who passed away in Los Angeles last week.
Madonna recently confirmed she planned to perform with Jackson at one of his 50 comeback concerts, which were due to kick off on July 13.
Madonna halted the gig halfway through while iconic images of the tragic star flashed up on screens behind her.
As the beat to Jackson's classic hit, "Billie Jean," was pumped into the arena, one of her dancers, dressed in the King of Pop's trademark black and white with a wide-brimmed hat and white gloves, began performing Jackson's most famous moves, including moonwalking across the stage.
The song turned into a medley with another classic Jackson hit, "Wanna Be Startin' Something," much to the delight of the London crowd.
Madonna told the audience, "Let's give it up for one of the greatest artists the world has ever known -- Michael Jackson!"
Later in the gig, the lyrics to Jackson's hit track "Man in the Mirror" were flashed up on screen as Madonna took to the stage wearing a black armband and a single white glove, in honor of the late music legend.
In an interview before the concert, the star expressed her shock at the sudden passing of her friend and explained her onstage tribute.
She says, "I am so terribly sad about Michael Jackson's death. I don't know what artist wasn't inspired by him.
"I chose 'Billie Jean' (to perform at the O2) because it's instantly recognizable.
"Kento, my dancer, was obsessed with Michael all his life. And when Michael was having auditions for his tour, Kento really wanted to go but he'd already made a commitment to me. So now he's about to have his moment and be Michael at my show."

Britney Spears appears in a new national advertising campaign for clothing brand Candie's looking rather fresh-faced and svelte.
The equestrian themed shoot sees Britney model clothes by the label to promote their girlswear line.
But even though she's too old to wear the range she appears to have had more than a touch of the airbrush in an attempt to appear extremely youthful.
The 27-year-old looks more like the Britney of her 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' period, when she shot to fame after prancing around in a Lolita-style school uniform for the video.
And it seems she couldn't help but add some of her usual brand of sexiness into the pictures.
Although the line is aimed at 16 and under girls, Britney flashes her bra in a fitted white shirt, and poses sexily in a pair of skintight blue jeans.
She also gives a flash of her taut tummy in a cropped top and leggings combination.

Lady Gaga sported a blonde wig and a skimpy black leotard with sexy stockings as she pushed past the paparazzi and headed inside with the help of a security team.
Abigail Clancy, is an English lingerie and catwalk model who made headlines during the 2006 FIFA World Cup as the girlfriend of England football star Peter Crouch, showed off her toned figure in a black bikini.
She has recently been seen modelling the company's swimwear line which starts from a budget £4 for a bikini.

Although they've been dating since January of last year, they stepped out publicly for the first time at the Emmy Awards in September 2008, when Fischer described Kirk to PEOPLE as "my super-cute boyfriend."
This is the first marriage for Kirk. Fischer was previously married to director James Gunn. They divorced in July 2007.

Heidi Montag has been offered a $25,000 to take it off at one of New York City’s most upscale gentleman clubs.
After shutting down it’s East 60th Street location due to financial difficulties last year, SCORES NYC is back in business, and the management would love to have Mrs. Pratt — whose latest screen performance was a onscreen spazz out over shampoo on NBC's I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here – stripping onstage for five nights.
SCORES is well known for being a favorite hang-out for notorious Hollywood celebrities and wealthy locals, including radio personality Howard Stern, NHL player Sean Avery, Russell Crow, Owen Wilson, and Madonna.
“Since Montag recently agreed to pose for Playboy, SCORES figured the publicity-hungry starlet would jump at the opportunity to be center stage at one of New York’s most entertaining nightclubs,” SCORES General Manager Ed Norwick said in a press release issued last week and obtained by Cityfile.com.
The club extended their generous offer to Heidi in the eloquently-written letter below:
Dear Mrs. Heidi Pratt,
