The 'California Gurls' hitmaker thinks that unlike other famous females - including former child star Britney Spears, who infamously shaved her head at the start of her public meltdown in 2007 - she won't go off the rails because she didn't achieve success until she was 23.
Katy Perry told BBC Radio 2 DJ Steve Wright: "My first record didn't take off until I was 23 so I was perhaps in a different headspace to someone who became successful at a younger age. If you're starting at 14 or 15 your maturity hasn't fully evolved.
"I'm not going to say I won't mess up, because someday I might want to shave my head. But not today because I'll get sunburn! I'm lucky because I have a great support system."
The 25-year-old singer - who is engaged to British comic Russell Brand - also admitted she was glad she took the gamble of waiting for a record deal that suited her ambitions.
She explained: "I had a very strong vision and some record companies didn't like that, but I waited for the right one and took a chance.
"I was lucky because it doesn't always pay off."

After sporting a dark hairdo for over a year, actress Kristen Stewart decided to lighten up her locks for her appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman today in New York.
Kristen was spotted heading into the Letterman studios wearing a sexy one sleeved black dress and heels as she prepared to do some promoting for Eclipse.
Shakira was "seduced" by the crowd at Glastonbury music festival.
The Columbian singer - who took to the Pyramid Stage on Saturday afternoon at the event in Somerset, South West England - revealed performing her hits includng 'Hips Don't Lie', 'Underneath Your Clothes' and 'Whenever, Wherever' was better than even she expected.
She explained: "Playing Glastonbury was better even than I expected. I enjoyed it so much. The crowd completely seduced me - it was an ocean of people, and they participated in every song, like a constant crescendo."

Megan Fox has reportedly got married to long term boyfriend Brian Austin Green in a ceremony in Hawaii.
Only earlier this month the couple got engaged for a second time after breaking off their first engagement last year.
Now TMZ says the stars have finally tied the knot in a small service at the Four Seasons Resort on the island.
Fox recently told Access Hollywood: “I've been in this relationship for so long and I love [Brian] so much and of course [marriage is] in the future somewhere, I'm not closed to that idea.
"I just think, if you're going to get married, if you're going to be with someone and make a commitment, it's good to tell the universe, to say, 'I'm committing to this person and making them my family.'"
The actress was recently ditched from the Transformers franchise but will be seen in cinemas in Jonah Hex soon. Austin Green is most famous for appearing in Beverly Hills 90210.

The "American Pie" star - who was arrested after failing a sobriety test in the early hours of the morning on June 16 while driving in Los Angeles - has reportedly been charged on a count for DUI with a prior and one count of driving with a .08 blood alcohol level or higher.
After being pulled over, the 31-year-old star was made to undergo two breathalyser tests which showed he was three times over the legal driving alcohol limit in Los Angeles, according to gossip website TMZ.
If convicted of the charges Klein could face up to a year in jail and be ordered to pay a $1,000 fine with the possibility of other financial penalties.
A police report claims he was "observed weaving from number three lane into the second and number four lane westbound US 1010 at Woodman Ave".
