Gillian Anderson has revealed that she and David Duchovny are set to reunite for a third instalment of the hit film series.
The film could be out in 2012, Anderson revealed.
Speaking during an appearance at the Sarajevo Film Festival, Anderson said: "There isn't any reason not to do it. I feel a certain commitment to that group of people that I worked with and we still enjoy doing it, when we do it.
"There is no reason why not to come together and do it again. If they can pull it off, we'll find some reason to make it."
Anderson and Duchovny starred in The X-Files TV series throughout the 1990s.

Gillian Anderson and her boyfriend Mark Griffiths have welcomed their second child together, her rep said Monday.
Son Felix Griffiths was born October 15 in London. He weighed in at 6 lbs., 15 0z.
The X-Files: I Want to Believe star, 40, and Griffiths are already parents to 1-year-old son Oscar. She also has a daughter, Piper, 13, from a prior marriage.

The 'X-Files' actress, who already has two children, and her boyfriend Mark Griffiths are expecting another child, Gillian's representative has confirmed.
The flame-haired star first sparked rumours she was pregnant after sporting what appeared to be a baby bump at the Cannes Film Festival in France last month.
It is not yet known when she is due to give birth.
Gillian and Mark have a 19-month-old son Oscar together.
